Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Chris Shook!

April and Chris were married only weeks ago just days after Christmas on December 27, 2014 in Estes Park, Colorado. The Black Canyon Inn was covered in a beautiful blanket of fresh snow for the occasion.

This sweet couple from Oklahoma was all smiles and so excited for their big day. It was a beautiful day, but I will say this….it was cold. And windy. Like COLD, cold and really windy. But even with the frigid temps, the warmth from this family was obvious. Chris and his daughter, along with April and her son are now a handsome and caring family of four.

I have to say that everyone in attendance on this special day were troopers. As the wind kicked up, the snow began to blow around. The ladies, all in strapless dresses, smiled perfectly for the camera and we managed to get some beautiful shots of everyone. I believe that even on a cold day, warmth comes from within. A beautiful smile, a positive attitude, and a heart full of love can make the coldest of days perfect, bright, loving, warm. April was as sweet as she could be. So cheerful and giddy. I love her dedication to getting a perfect picture. Chris was quiet and polite and willing to do whatever he needed to do to make his bride happy. What a great way to start a marriage! Willing, cheerful, dedicated.

It's a good thing that we waited until just before sunset to take pictures of Chris and April as a newly married couple. Knowing that the day was going to be cold, I pushed for pictures of the couple before the ceremony, but if we had, we never would have been in the presence of one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever captured at the Black Canyon. Wow! It was amazing! I am so glad I was able to get those pictures for this amazing couple.

So, to Chris and April, I will offer this: may warmth always come from within. Warmth is found in the heart alongside love, dedication, cheer, joy, and faithfulness. Rejoice in the beauty of every moment, be it frigid and blustery, or tropical and calm. May every gorgeous sunset remind of the beginning of your marriage. Cheers!
