Sweet Miss Avery

Its hard for me to believe that it has been more than a year since I first met little Avery. I had the pleasure of taking her newborn photos last July. Oh my, how times have changed! This little one is a bundle of energy, moving and shaking and keeping her mommy and daddy on their toes. She is soooo close to just upping and running away. Those little legs are so close to being ready to walk alone. Avery is beyond adorable and has the sweetest smile.

The curious Miss Avery loved my rocking chair. My Papo made it by hand for me and my sister when we were babies. I think we could have plopped her in it and left her there and she would have been as happy as pie. She tossed leaves into the air while laughing and giggling. I caught so many wonderful expressions from the little lady, ranging from sweet smiles, concern, silly facial expressions, sticking out her tongue, and even a few tears. Hey, she's 1. I expected nothing less. Even when she was angry, she was cute.

The fall colors were really nice on this perfect fall evening at Chatfield State Park. There was actually more green grass than I expected for this time of year, but we made it work! Avery was such a good girl and I really loved spending time with her again. She is a true joy and cute as a button!

The Sweetest Couple Ever, Mr. and Mrs. Koehler

Ok, I know that I seriously have the best clients ever, but this couple defines sweet. They were all smiles and exuded genuine happiness and joy as they joined in marriage in a backyard ceremony In Lafayette, Colorado on September 21, 2013.

Kristen and Scott were another couple that were displaced by the Estes Park flooding. While they had planned to be married at an outdoor chapel at the YMCA of the Rockies, it just was not possible. In the days that followed the flooding, I spoke with Kristen about her options. The wedding quickly came together when her guitarist, the very talented Ms. Felicity Muench offered her backyard as the location for the ceremony. Her gorgeous yard was set up so nice and was a beautifully serene setting. Kristen was a vision in her knee length dress. Her pink flowers matched her bubbly personality perfectly! Scott was a perfect gentleman and while I could see the nervousness in his face, the look on his face when he saw his bride said more than words ever could.

The reception followed at the Colorado National Gold Club. The wonderful folks there stepped up in Kristen and Scott's time of need to squeeze them into a beautiful reception spot that overlooked the putting greens. The sun was high in the sky as we shot our pictures creating a gentle haze over the mountains, which didn't allow for many great mountain shots, but these two were just happy to be together on their special day.

Kristen and Scott will hold a special place in my heart always. So kind, so generous, so polite. This amazing couple will no doubt live a long and happy life together. May your sweet disposition and kindness always be apart of your marriage. Those two things will take you far in happiness.

See you for your one year wedding anniversary in Estes!

It's Almost Halloween!

It's hard to believe that Halloween is just around the corner. Wasn't it blazing hot and summer just a few days ago? That's how it seems to me. Last year was the first year that my son was able to really participate in Halloween. Even at just over a year old, he had a favorite character from a book….Max from Where the Wild Things Are. Low and behold if I didn't find a Max costume for him. We practiced stomping and growling for weeks!

Just after our neighborhood trick-or-treat event, we trucked over to the pond behind our house to get some photos. I caught one of him stomping and growling! I'm sure I looked silly chasing a 1 year old around, bent over, running, yelling commands to smile and stomp and growl. Must have been a sight and I am sure that more than a few people got a good laugh, but hey, you do what you have to do for the shot!

This year, I am entering one of his pictures into a contest. You, my followers, don't have to do anything except maybe get a smile out of this. Happy Halloween from Max, King of the Wild Things!

Introducing Andrea & Andy Howard!

Andrea and Andy were joined in marriage on September 21, 2013 in the presence of their immediate family in a gorgeous backyard ceremony in Andrea's parents backyard. This small and intimate wedding was touching and personal. The service was performed by their good friend Vince Tango and Andrea's nephew even served as ring bearer. Andrea and Andy incorporated several meaningful rituals during the service in order to seal their bond completely.

I was so touched to be apart of this elegantly simple family affair. I was welcomed into Andrea's parents home and was immediately made to feel welcome. One of Andrea's sisters did her hair, while mom and dad were busy downstairs readying dinner for after the service.

Andrea and Andy were supposed to be married in Estes Park, but their service was to take place only days after a 500 year flood hit the area. The decision was made to have the service in Highlands Ranch with their immediate family surrounding them. Andrea pulled everything together quickly and so well. She was stunning in her knee length plum dress while Andy wore a cream colored jacket over a black shirt and vest. The sunlight was gorgeous on this evening and made for some incredible pictures. The temperature was perfect and everyone was all smiles. This will be an evening that I will never forget.

To Mr. and Mrs. Howard, may the sun always shine on your faces and may you always have each other to lean on. I hope your married life is all that you dreamed it could be. You will always have each other from this moment forward, so cherish every minute and love each other like you were born to. Congrats!
