Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Today is a wonderful day! My sweet Grandma is turning 93! That's right, 93! She lives in Texas, so since I won't have the chance to see her today, I thought I'd share some photos from my trip with my son this past fall. She loved meeting Josh and they were like two peas in a pod. Josh looks a lot like my dad, who looks a lot like his mom, so the family resemblance is obvious.

Happy Birthday, Grandma. We hope you are having a wonderful day, and get the chance to enjoy some of that wonderful Texas BBQ that we all miss so much. We love you!

Justin Simon, Class of 2014!

Watch out world, the oh so handsome Justin Simon is finally a senior. "Best class you have ever seen, we are the class of 2014!"

I have known Justin's mom for several years now and have had the pleasure of photographing her with all 3 of her boys in the past. When I first met Justin a few years ago, he was quiet, but polite, and not much has changed. He is such a sweet, intelligent, good-looking young man. I know he will go far in whatever he chooses to do after his high school graduation from Green Mountain High next Spring.

Justin chose to have his photos done at Lair O' The Bear park in the foothills just past Morrison on a cloudy morning in late July. I was ecstatic that there were enough clouds in the sky to keep the harsh morning shadows at bay, but Justin was worried that the photos wouldn't be colorful enough. I think we made sure that wasn't the case. Justin willingly hiked into fields, jumped rocks into the river, climbed trees, and followed me around in circles as we made our way through the lower part of the park. His sweet smile was always in place, and I even caught a few goofy moments from him too.

Justin is the type of kid that makes my job easy. So handsome, willing, and polite. I just don't have enough great things to say about this young man. Justin, spread your wings wide and soar for the stars. I know that you are capable of achieving whatever it is that you dream about. Life is marathon, not a sprint, so have fun and try to step back from time to time to remember the priceless moments that lay ahead for you. Rock on Class of 2014!

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Proctor!

Ok, I know what you must be thinking, I hired models for a wedding shoot, but I promise, this gorgeous couple could not be more in love and have had a more touching and special wedding. I feel honored that they allowed me to be apart of such a special day. Rachel and Luke were so willing to let me be creative, and I think we captured some of my most favorite wedding photos….EVER!

Rachel and Luke were joined in marriage on Monday, July 29th, 2013 at the Black Canyon Inn in Estes Park, Colorado. The day began rather dark and dreary with heavy rain falling at times. Throughout the day, I was glued to my weather app to see if there was a chance that the skies might clear so that we could capture some gorgeous mountain shots. I was not hopeful. At times, you couldn't even see the mountains due to the rain and low clouds. The temperatures hung in the upper 50's and while I wanted to be hopeful, I was already changing my strategy from sunny, mountain-scapes to rainy, umbrella shots.

As I arrived to the wedding site, it was still cold, and it was still raining. I greeted Rachel while she was putting on the finishing touches to get a few indoor shots. When I walked outside to go meet Luke for a few pre-wedding shots with him, low and behold, the rain was letting up! I anxiously grabbed my phone to check my weather app, and wouldn't you know it, clear skies were on the way! While clouds still hung in the air, not allowing me to capture the beautiful mountain blue skies, it had completely stopped raining about 10 minutes before the ceremony and held off until 30 minutes after we were done with pictures!

Rachel and Luke are the most polite, pleasant, sweet, and genuine couple. Rachel was seriously concerned that she may not be able to get out the words she so desperately wanted to say during the ceremony, but she did it! During their moment of remembrance for those that could not join them for their special day, this photographer joined Rachel and Luke and their guests in full on tears while the guitarist played Amazing Grace peacefully in the background. You can see the adoration that these two have for each other and you can feel the love they share. This special couple will have many years of happiness before them.

To Mr. and Mrs. Proctor, I wish you a lifetime of happiness. May you always find love and laughter in all that you do! Congrats!

Jessica and John are Married!

Jessica and John were joined in marriage on July, 27, 2013 at the Black Canyon Inn in Estes Park, Colorado. They were surrounded by their children, family, and friends. Jessica was so sweet while John kept me on my toes with his jokes. These two share something special, which was particularly evident when they both got choked up while exchanging their vows. I felt honored to have been apart of their special day and loved their candid, laid back attitudes. Their pictures were less formal than I usually do, but the smiles and kisses I caught were genuine. I love that they love each other so much and just wanted to have fun with their day! Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Knispel!
*Side note, I also love that Jessica is such a huge Broncos fan. I hope you got Peyton's signature at training camp! Go Broncos!

Beautiful rings, beautiful flowers, beautiful couple, beautiful day!
